Brethren; I thank you for your confidence in electing me to serve as Master for the ensuing year. I will do my best in the fine tradition of those who have preceede me in this office. I wish to thank Worshipful Brother Aaron Andrews for his work as Master in 2008. Masonry, as well as other fraternal orginizations is facing a difficult time. Our numbers are shrinking, and we are failing to appear favorably to the men of these younger generations. We need to iniate new programs to she a greater "light" upon the time honored teachings of our fine Brotherhood. While we remain the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world, if we do not endeavor to to renew ourselves with the introduction of younger men into our ranks, our important cause will be doomed to near extinction. I appeal to you to look to your sons, grandsons, nephews and neighbors for likely prospects for initiation into our beloved Order. While it is still necessary that a candidate for Masonry must ask to join, a few well chosen words, or a frank discussion of our ourposes and programs could be the push that gets them to pose that all important question. If anybody wishes, I would be happy to meet with them and any potential candidates. Remember, my Brothers, this is your Lodge and you never have to work your way into it. You will be accepted with open arms. Your Master and your officers will be glad to assist you in any way possible. If you need a ride, please give me a call, and I will arrange for one of our officers to help you to get to and from our meetings. In closing, I wish for you and your families a Very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperus New Year. Fraternally; Alan M. Brown, Worshipful Master. |
